Walk your dog. Claim your patch.
Turf Paws turns your daily dog walk into a game of territory. Walk a loop, claim the 100-metre squares inside it, and hold them against rival dogs nearby.
Free to play. Runs in your phone’s browser, anywhere in Great Britain.
The walk you already do, now with something to win.
Great Britain is split into 100-metre squares on the Ordnance Survey grid. Every walk you finish can win you some of them.
-
Start a walk
Tap Start walk and head out with your dog. Each square you walk through gets marked on the map.
-
Close the loop
Finish near where you started and every square inside your loop becomes yours, as well as the ones on the way.
-
Hold your patch
Walk your squares again to make them stronger, up to five levels. A rival needs one walk for every level to take one off you.
Finds on the way. Dog bins, water bowls and dog-friendly pubs appear on the map. Walk past one to log it.
- BDog bins

- PPubs
If a dog goes missing, everyone nearby starts looking.
Send a lost dog alert with a photo and a contact number. Owners within 3 km are told straight away, even when the app is closed.
- Notifications for people nearby. Anyone with alerts turned on within 3 km gets a notification on their phone.
- Sightings on the map. Someone spots your dog, taps I’ve seen this dog, and you’re notified with where they were.
- Close it when they’re home. Mark your dog as found and the alert disappears for everyone.
Lost dog nearby: Mabel
Small black cockapoo with a red collar. Friendly, but nervous with strangers. Please don’t chase her.

Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Turf Paws is free to play.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Open app.turf-paws.co.uk in your phone’s browser and allow location. To keep it on your home screen, tap Share and then Add to Home Screen on iPhone, or Install app on Android.
Do I need an account?
You can start playing straight away as a guest. Add your email address in your profile to keep your dogs, walks and patch if you change phone or clear your browser.
Where can I play?
Anywhere in England, Scotland and Wales. Squares follow the Ordnance Survey National Grid, so every square is one hectare. Stick to public paths and rights of way, and keep your dog on a lead around livestock.
Can I claim squares from a car or bike?
No. Anything faster than a brisk walk is ignored, and walks that are too fast, too long or too frequent don’t count.
What happens if my phone screen locks?
Keep Turf Paws open during a walk. Phones pause web apps when the screen locks, so the app keeps your screen awake where your phone allows it.
Ready when your dog is.
Open Turf Paws on your phone, add your dog, and claim your first squares on today’s walk.
